Ok, I think this may work, edit your /etc/X11/xorg.conf file & add or 
change it to use the vesa driver for a while.


Section "Device"
    Identifier     "Device0"
    Driver         "vesa"   -----------> this would have said Intel I 
believe
    VendorName     "Intel Corporation"
