OK, but at least for me, this looks like a rather unusual wine
installation, to say the least.
I would suggest to correct this before doing more investigations of what
went possibly wrong.
My other suggestion is that you will try to tackle this in the most
logical manner possible, in order to have a better chance to finally
come to a solution.
First, if you have not doe so, add the recent wine release to your
sources list.
See http://www.winehq.org/download/deb
for instructions.
Next, set your wine installation back to default.
DISCLAIMER:
Think about this next step BEFORE doing it, since after deletion of
.wine/, all your windows applications will be gone!!
OK, so
you can delete an existing wine installation by moving .wine to a safe
place.
e.g. open konsole
mv .wine/ .wine.bak/
then with "winecfg"
you reestablish /check the base structure of your "fake windows"
After this, you can install e-Sword into its default install path, which
is C:\Program Files\e-Sword\
Then make this e_Sword installation work to your fullest satisfaction,
although the installed bible version surely will not be your favorite.
Then and only then, copy your bible of choice to the e_sword
installation directory and use it.
Kind regards
Eberhard
