Thanks to both of you for the good advice; I see both points.
Nonetheless, I hate when others make decisions for me without my
permission. I am not a very knowledgeable user yet, but I do understand
the potential for serious mistakes when using Root. I have a healthy
respect for it and stay in the safer position all the time, but when I
need the access and have to run through hoops to get it, I would rather
have the access and take my lumps. I have many times lost important
data, but that has never made me want some kind of protector. I
personally don't like to have to repeat myself, like 'do you really want
to empty trash'. I realize that would save a potential problem, however
I can't remember ever not meaning it and lost something important that
way. As a consequence I prefer not to have to make the extra mouse
click. That is one of those things I hated about Windows, five clicks
to do a single click task. Probably an exaggeration, but you get the
idea. In any event thanks to both of you; you have my best interest at
heart.

Steven
