Is there something like the old XF86Setup package out there? Text mode?

<bumps head> I coulda had a V-8! Sure, I just rebooted with the install
DVD in the drive and ran the live session. Everything worked. So, I
mounted the /dev/sda1 hard drive partition to /mnt and then copied the
Live session xorg.conf file to the /mnt/etc/X11/xorg.conf and rebooted.
I MOSTLY got a working mouse. X flashed a couple of times and barfed
again. So, I'm just re-installing again. If that doesn't work, I'll try
CentOS which is pretty lean and mean, but then I'm back to the rpm world
and I have learned to love the .deb scheme of things. Nah, some of this
rocket science is out of hand. Especially when old timers can't help
newbies, as even we have no clue what they've done to things this month.
That makes for short tempers. :) Ric
