Very good advice and I'll add one more observation....   Many, many times I 
have seen inexperienced users come into the linux community and get 'hung up' 
on doing something which even an experienced user would have trouble doing. 
That is, even an experienced user would have to dig, and google, and hunt 
around to find pieces that are needed to do the xxxx thing being tried.

My point is, these new users would be well ahead of the game to spend their 
time 'learning linux' before going off into uncharted (for them) waters.  

It's like me deciding  I want to build myself a house when in fact, I couldn't 
even build a workbench at the moment.  It would take a lot of learning.  And 
asking someone "how do I build a house?"  isn't going to cut it.
