Could you also tell us which version of Kubuntu you are using and
which version of KDE? This would really be helpful for us to narrow
down a problem.

Are you sure you really need the Acrobat Reader? KDE 4 comes with
Okular which is a Free PDF reader that is fully compatible with the
open pdf standard. AFAIK it is installed by default.

On previous versions of KDE (e.g. 3.5.x) the pdf reader is called kpdf.
