On Sunday 03 May 2009, my mailbox was graced by a missive
 from Jonas Norlander <jonorland at gmail.com> who wrote:

From the vars names (XKBLAYOUT etc.) I suspect those apply to the X consoles 
and tty's.

Had a look through dmesg, but see nothing about a keyboard being conf'ed to 
fr.

Any other idea ?
