Jaunty: How to install a USB printer?

Hi everybody,
not only the Canon-PIXMA_iP5300 doesn't work with 9.04!
My Brother 5150D worked sometimes with 8.04 and Turboprint (some pages).
After restarting the system even turboprint could do it again!
B.t.w. it's somewhat bizar to have to BUY a print prog. Everybody needs to print.
I'll have to wait for the next (K)ubuntu-version or even longer!
A good OS should offer these facilities!
The only reason why W.. occupies 2/3 of my HD. Only for PRINTING!
