IIRC that TT-43 used a fabric cartridge ribbon and I know the Spinwriter did.
I still have a Xerox 1650-ro, but it uses a film cartridge and there are no
cartridges in the pipeline today that haven't been stored in a Mexican
Warehouse for 20 years, so now they print one character per cartridge as the
first strike on the daisy shatters the film. Great old printer in its day, at
40cps was the fastest daisy wheel ever made, although you had to screw AND
glue the cart it sat on if you didn't want the cart to self destruct, the full
18" carriage return was 200 milliseconds. But it can have an afterlife too,
as it would make a great boat anchor. :) But that seems a rather ignominious
end for a great printer. :(
