strange Adept Manager problem

on Hardy 8.04 kubuntu KDE 3.5.10 - have a strange Adept Manager problem. 
The choice to Manage Repositories on the menu does not work - the screen 
"flickers" and then the repos are reloaded. Can not make it work no 
matter what I do.

Any ideas anyone?
