Well, still have a look at Lyx -- assuming you have not already set your book 
in something else... Lyx is just one up from Latex, so that's also good. 
Then you go to PDF via pdflatex and it seems to work quite well. 

Lyx has nice export and preview functions. (You need to make a fix to a python 
file to fit okular into the scheme of things.)
