The culprit is unlikely to actually be X11 - more likely it's a badly written app which is doing too many screen redraws or something like that. X11 in general only does what it is told - if perhaps Ktorrent is telling it to update a status bar a zillion times a second then that would account for it. How you debug this I've no idea but I'd love to know.
