Is there a package I should install to use xine embedded in other applications?

It might, but I don't know what. With desktop effects on, the area of 
the window where the video should be displayed is a transparent gray 
rectangle; with desktop effects off, it is a solid black rectangle.
I will start to copy the contents of the problematic profile to a fresh 
new one until it breaks, so I can find out what causes this problems. 
I'll post the results here later.
