Hi guys, I haven't followed the whole discussion, as my hard drives
crashed, so I am working from a liveCD now (viva Mint live CD). However,
when having trouble with Java, realise, that whether using
*ubuntu-variants of Fedora or other variants, it is important not to mix
the open variants op Java (OpenJDK) with the other variants. That will
certainly get you into trouble.
At one point, I had to uninstall everything concerning Java and then
install the stock Java platform (in this case Fedora) and that appeared
to work fine.
About OpenOffice (which is Sun as well), you might try getting support
from Sun by opening a ticket on their bugzilla site (sorry, don't have
the URL :-) ).
So, try, uninstalling all java and using only stock ubuntu java
platform, see if that works. Otherwise, file a bug-ticket and although
it will take time, you will get support.
Hope this helps.
