Right click a title bar (above window) and go into Configure Window Behav. 
Fiddle around in the Advanced Desktop settings. 

That said... I have set shadows off and I still get this blue glow all over the 
place :( 

Still compositing only works for a few hours before I have to turn it off 
anyway because windows stop being drawn.
