Flash on Firefox 3.5 (My not so clever workaround)

I owe this forum a reply (especially the people who tried to help me) as
to the state of my computer after requesting aid to install flash on
firefox 3.5 in Kubuntu 64 bit.
After spending nearly a week trying to solve the problem, based on
suggestions made here, I had no success. I then uninstalled and
re-installed Firefox and still couldn't install flash. I then made a
radical decision - to downgrade (if that is the correct word) to Kubuntu
32 bit. I read somewhere that the main advantage to 64 bit Linux is for
computers with more than 4giga ram. I don't know if this is so or not
but I only have 2 giga ram so I decided to "downgrade". I then decided
that if I was formatting my computer anyway (home is on a separate
drive) I would then go "all the way" and install Karmic (32bit). This is
what I have done and meanwhile all is working ok (including flash) event
though Karmic is "only" alfa 5.
Not an ideal solution to the problem I posed but I can now work with
Firefox 3.5 with flash.
