It would appear that on Sep 10, Brendan did say:

Thanks for the tip Brendan. Actually I'd herd some good things about
Elive. I downloaded Elive_1.0_Gem.iso And burned a copy... I took a
quick peak at it and thought it looked nice. And was pleased to note
that it said something about an installation option (which I hadn't
noticed in the grub menu...) When it finished booting I poked around
a little and saw what looked like a fair collection of initial
software. (though I suspect that anything that wasn't purely
enlightenment was from gnome...<sigh>) I was about to do a little
research to find out if it has something like apt-get, and if so
what's available in the repositories... IE can I get some kde
applications that I'm lost without. (course that would mean adding
some form of kde etc...) but unfortunately my venerable old 586
desktop kicked the bucket, leaving me with only my laptop until I
solve my cashflow problem... On my laptop I only have room for 3 Linux
distributions, Currently Kubuntu (Jaunty), Sabayon 4.2, And OpenSuSE 11.0...
All of which have some version of e16 AND e17 overlaid on top of some
version of kde... I may eventually decide that I'd rather have Elive
installed rather than OpenSuSE. But until I do the live version would
take to much reconfiguring every time I boot it, for me to even try to
get comfortable with it. For me the default settings will not do.

If you'd like a better idea of the changes I need to make to the standard
setup (and especially some extensive changes to mouse and keyboard bindings)...
Then your welcome to check out the bash script I use when I first add e17
to a kde system. There's a copy of it at:

Since you mention Elive in such a positive way though Brendan, perhaps
you can tell me if I'd be able to get:

konsole, kaffeine, yakuake, alpine, mc, & lyx

installed on Elive with some kind of package manager similar to apt-get???
