Douglas, one of the best things about using kubuntu is that people here 
are exceptionally helpful, even to um,... not so polite enquiries. That 
is something I have to try to cultivate.

I personally think your plan is good; I've received lots of help here 
and I am sure should you need it, you will likewise have it.
