Yes, it is brilliant! Welcome to Kubuntu.
I am going to guess that Amarok won't load your music because your 'D:\' is
not mounted. That means that Kubuntu knows that it is there but you have to
make it know that you want to use it. A quick fix is to open Dolphin (My
Computer, My Documents, etc in windows) and click on the picture of the disk.
It will then mount it for you. If you always want it to be there then you
will need to get some information and edit a file.
What game are you talking about? There are hundreds of games available in
your package manager. Unlike windows, you usually do not have to go the net
or a disk to get new programs. All the software you need is available, and
with automatic updates too, by opening a package manager and looking for it.
It sounds like you are trying to compile from source. That's either fun or
annoying. Before you start make sure "build-essential" (no quotes) is
installed. But I would suggest that you first try looking for it in
KPackageKit. (If KPackageKit is being difficult, you want to install the
Synaptic package manager and use that instead.)
