Again the pulseaudio *sound server* is NOT installed in Kubuntu by 
default. There ARE a couple of *client library* files that help 
applications communicate with pulse - think of running something KDE 
in an Ubuntu/Gnome/Pulseaudio environment.

but there is no pulseaudio sound server running in Kubuntu unless 
one installs it themselves
