I'm afraid I don't recall any details; but I do recall clearly that as soon
as I uninstalled lm-sensors, my crashes stopped.

Other people were using the same modules without any problems, but there
was definitely some incompatibility between one of the modules used by
lm-sensors and my hardware. I was so happy to have finally figured out the
cause of the crashes. They didn't follow any obvious pattern. Sometimes I
would go two or three months without a crash; sometimes I'd get several in
a single day, and it all seemed to have no correlation with anything the
system was doing.
