Hi Doug,
I am glad to hear that I am not the only one as far as getting useful replies 
from the list!!
I have one machine and although new has a problem in that area.
I installed a mylivecd created  on another machine, but although it installed 
properly, after the reboot it worked for a while but when the KVM switch 
switched from that machine to another and then back again the mouse/keyboard 
did not work.
So I started with a new PCLinuxOS 2010.10 and worked with that for a while. 
then did an upgrade.. Test that for a while. If all works,for you,  well your 
home and dry.
