Something like this sometimes happens to me moving in and out of my
windows VM. I"m not sure exactly what causes it. Sometimes I can
stop it if I go in and out the the vm holding, or not holding, the
control key. It helps if I hold my mouth right, too.
I've occasionally gotten it to reset by switching to a viirtual
console (CTRL-ALT-F1) and then back (ALT-F7). Sometimes when I get
back my keyboard is okay. :) Other times my machine hangs and I
reboot when I try that. :(
