Updating from 8.04 LTS -- incrementally or jump or not at all?

I would look at the Trinity project that keeps an updated KDE3 version
going. I use it on older hardware and have no problems. KDE4 is too
heavy for say P4 with 512 Mb RAM - in my opinion. Even if you switch off
desktop effects and kill file indexing.
