convert from Ubuntu to Kubuntu

Thank you folks for the advice. For some odd reason these suggestions did
not work on my particular computer. Since this was a brand-new install and I
had no information or programs set up I elected to just reinstall and this
time I was able to get Kubuntu to install properly.
