Gimp problem

I would suggest the following:

   1. purge-uninstall GIMP and related packages - via some package manager
   2. restart the PC;
   3. than, install again GIMP and dependencies;
   4. restart your computer
   5. try to start GIMP in the normal way or via ALT-F2.
