Controlling kruler with the mouse

I've been using kruler a lot in my current job.  I find it difficult to
place it precisely where I want it with pixel accuracy.

The I noticed a colleague.  He would place it approximately, then use his
arrow key to move it around one pixel at a time.

I tried doing that and it didn't do anything.

The big difference is that he is using fedora and I'm using kubuntu (12.10).

Anyone know how I can move kruler around with my arrow keys?
