experimenting with kubuntu 13.10, task manager problem

with 13.10 the color scheme for the panel has changed to a black background, 
unforuntnatly the text for the task manager widget is black text, with a white 
outline on a black background. this is pretty close to unreadable. I have not 
been able to spot where I can change this.

I'm on a T-61 thinkpad with nvidia video (I know, I don't like that this has 
nvidia either)
