One thing to note is that the IM client is normally run from the system tray, so your
screenshot actually has 3 icons - two of the green "instant messaging presence"
icons, and the blue icon representing the contacts list. I have switched to the icon-
only taskbar, but I do not have the same issue, and can't seem to make it exhibit your
symptoms.
Does clicking on either green icon make the contact list icon pop open and closed?
Could the taskbar icon actually be a widget icon instead somehow? Check to see if an
"Instant Messaging Presence" widget is there.
