Network manager does not enable mobile broadband

Hi all,

On a 14.04 installation the network manager does not recognise a plugged 3G
USB modem and does not allow me to check the box that is enabling the
mobile broadband. In the settings the mobile connection exists.

Before upgrade on the same machine with12.04 all worked fine.

Any ideas how to solve this? Thanks.
