That appears to be the problem, it can't connect to the database. Did
you check that mysql is installed correctly? AFAIR MySQL is used by
default, but other database options are possible, Kubuntu does ship a
MariaDB server as well.
That is pretty much all my limited knowledge when it comes to Akonadi,
a bug report on bugs.kde.org would certainly be helpful.
