The last Windows system I used was Win95, it's not that easy to go back to it

I've been running Linux as my desktop full time (including at work) since 1996, 
I'm not a recent convert from Windows. I've used other Desktop Environments over 
the years, but have been using KDE since the 3.x days (and KDE 4 wasn't a big 
problem for me)

You can't, and shouldn't dismiss all criticism of KDE as being from the "wrong 
people"

Kubuntu releases aren't supposed to be bleeding edge for risk hungry developers, 
they are supposed to be routine updates that I can schedule to have happen 
automatically without having to worry about making the system unusable.

Kubuntu 15.04 fails this test.
