First off, programs will fill as much memory as they can until it is 
required for something else. That's normal.

Second, this is a quad core with 16gigs memory. I'm showing almost 
13gigs free. Right now it's kind of a light load, only four programs 
running, plus the stuff that runs we never know about. *Everything* that 
is running on the computer is running completely in memory and only 
using 3gigs.
