I've been running 16.04 since Oct/Nov of last year.  At that time 
it was, (_LARGE_), magnifying glass only.  And yes, things have 
improved somewhat since then, but there's still plenty of miss- 
matching happening.  A couple re-installs picked up fixes from 
before, but there were still plenty of problems. 




I’ve had an HD monitor (1920 x 1080) on my normal desktop for years...  and that includes 16.04 on up to 18.04 and I have never had to adjust for the resolution.  Yes, I do go into the system and tell it the resolution of the monitor and that’s it!

Maybe you should tell us the brand of your monitor and graphics card but I’ve had all kinds and again, no problem.

I would say there might be something wrong on your end.  And....   even if the devs make some changes, you’re not going to see them while running such a back-level system.
