"Indicator-Kdeconnect" No longer works for SMS

I've been running Kubuntu 18.04 for a long time and have been very happy 
with it. This past weekend, I decided it was about time to upgrade to 
Kubuntu 22.04. The upgrade went rather smoothly EXCEPT for the fact that 
I could not get the "indicator-kdeconnect" app to work with respect to 
sending/receiving SMS messages.

I don't see any updated versions of this app on github. I did try the 
flatpak version but that also failed to function re: sending/receiving 
SMS messages. Has anybody run into this issue and, if so, have you found 
a fix or workaround? I really use this SMS function extensively and may 
decide to retro back down to 18.04 if it cannot be resolved.

Any pointers in the right direction would be incredibly appreciated!
