After /sbin/iwconfig i get

lo     no wireless extensions.
sit0   no wireless extensions.
eth0   no wireless extensions.


FYI: The Netgear Fa511 is not a wireless card. It is a wired ethernet
card.

my current boot options include acpi=off pnpbios=off apm=off . This is
from trying to get a different ethernet card to work
