first of all i think this is the richt list for that case. He was 
running Sarge with that Laptop so it should run nicely in Ubuntu. If it 
does it can be a problem to test and resolve here.

Chritoph i think the best of all should be to post some output of your logs.

Maybe you should use a webpage like http://www.ubuntuusers.de/paste/
