Thanks for the response, I ordered a dell 1420n and if I ever receive
it, it will have a:
Intel 3945 WLAN (802.11a/g) Mini Card
and this post appears to be relevant to the above card:

which indicates that a driver exists (or will soon) for Linux that
will not contain a proprietary regulatory daemon, but it will require
a new microcode image.
I am hoping that I read this right, and that it will allow me to run
an untainted kernel. (since I also have the Intel gma x3100)
