broken malone login

I have some sort of peculiar problem with malone's login, and so far,
have not been able to figure out how to resolve it!

I've been a member of the ubuntu forums for a long time. When malone
became the bug reporting mechanism, I followed the instructions to
create an account.

When I access the login dialog, I type the name and mailing address I
used to open the account, along with the password I used.

If I type the password correctly, I am returned to the point from which
I requested the login as if it had succeeded, BUT I AM NOT LOGGED IN.

If I deliberately type the password incorrectly, I get the mismatched
password dialog as expected until I type my password.

I've tried everything for several months now, including resetting the
password (which works fine, but the new password still won't let me log
in!), and changing browser settings (Ubuntu Dapper's firefox, with and
without scripting enabled).

Of course the final catch 22 is that launchpad has no way to contact
anyone about login problems without LOGGING IN!

For a number of reasons, I have more than one email account (on my ISP,
NOT hotmail, or anything like that). For other reasons, I use a
different login name in the ubuntu forums (mpvano instead of my mail
account names, mvano and spamblock - yes, that's really my actual
secondary account name) which are both at vano.com.

I also notice that there's a completely unrelated account belonging to a
person I never heard of called "M.P. van Os" in the data base that comes
up when I search for other accounts belonging to me. Could this have
something to do with the problem?

I regulary test ubuntu on about 10 platforms (depending on resources)
and often find things that are significant bugs and would like to be
able to report them.

Is there any hope that this problem can be resolved, or at least
directed to someone in charge of fixing such problems. The current
situation with regard to this kind of bug resembles a Kafka short story....
