I am indeed the right person to ask about vcs-import related things.

Thank you. I set up a new import from the svn.
Unfortunately evolution-data-server uses svn:externals and Launchpad imports currently have a problem with them.
The relevant Launchpad bugs:
vcs-imports fail in the presence of svn:externals
https://launchpad.net/launchpad-bazaar/+bug/81684
vcs import should report cvs config and svn externals information

You should know a few things:
* the new import from svn will be "unrelated" to the existing import from cvs
* launchpad imports are "unrelated" to imports done with bzr-svn
This "unrelated" means that although they might have identical contents, bzr will see them as completely different branches. They will have different revision-ids and different file-ids. Merging with bzr between unrelated branches does not work.
Jelmer has put a lot of work into bzr-svn recently, so maybe you would like to use it instead of Launchpad imports, especially if you have commit access to the evolution-data-server svn repository. However imports done with newer bzr-svn are also "unrelated" to imports done with old versions of bzr-svn.
Regards.
