Thanks Emilio.  I found that on the man page later.

Sorry for such a question with an obvious answer.  That was my first
time building a dpkg.  I really like how dpkg has integrated
build/update support in inself.

I used to work with rpm packages, for Sharif Linux, a fedora-based
distro; but now that I'm working with dpkg, I'm sure that I did the
right thing to switch to Ubuntu a couple of years ago.
