Yes, we definitely need some news at the bottom of the page. That way
people can tell what is going on with Lubuntu.
on your mock-up image you have a" tour" link. That's a fine idea.
How about this?
http://www.ubuntu.com/tour/en/
And, Really this site is all about new users. And the only way to
control where a user clicks, is to give him fewer things to click on.
The whiteboar site assumes the new user knows nothing really about
lubuntu. so within a 4-5 clicks this totally unknown user will
definetely know at least somethign about lubuntu before he gets bored.
Microsoft XP is getting old, and Microsoft wants to retire those old
computers. what do you think of this little quote:
"Windows XP's upcoming end-of-life means that some 200 millon PCs will
need upgrading or replacing. " from
http://www.itpro.co.uk/634909/windows-xp-support-shutdown-countdown-begins
Everyone here knows lubuntu is the real deal. I mean does anyone here
honestly believe that there's a better OS for low-RAM computers?
ubuntu is chasing after Mac users.
Arch is chasing after power uses.
We can chase after users with old windows xp desktops and laptops.
Don't be ashamed of it. It's no shame to have 512 megs of ram. To
run at less than 2 Ghz. You know what I mean.
admittedly, the xubuntu site looks pretty nice. Looks like $10,000
well spent. IMHO, It looks much better than ubuntu.com
if we can get the site looking as good as ubuntu.com, and
at the same time, clearly guides new users. That's all I ask.
But I don't know what you're thinking. If there's a Ubuntu theme out
there that's already done, then show it to me.
If there's a convincing need for a new page that says 'discover
lubuntu' then I need to know specifics. Hell, write the page. I'll
even correct your spelling.
Cheers,
kanliot
