Hello Paul,

I would argue that given that *every PC* has usb ports

It could be true that every PC/Laptop has an USB port but NOT all these
machines can boot from their USB Ports. Not a very good example maybe but
at least I do have one sitting next to me:

Yes, Plop does exist and it could be helpful but sometimes, it doesn't and
sometimes, users have hard time dealing with that. I for one have seen some
users (Ubuntu Forums) have had hard time with that.

IMHO, I would say: keep Lubuntu ISO less than 700 and the users will always
be able to burn a CD or create a LiveUSB depending on what they need.

What I would like to see is perhaps make full use of a dvd

Some distributions have a DVD ISO but that is not only because of their
default applications but because there are more than one DE to login to
after you install the system. Ubuntu doesn't do that. You need to install
another DE manually and it doesn't come with the ISO by default.

I have a netbook and emacines 1401, neither have a cd / dvd drive so I

Indeed but sadly not everyone has that option so they still need to use the
'classic' approach :)

Who knows? maybe after 2 years or so, everyone will move to USB when the
current old machines are no longer exist but I doubt because old is gold
and I'm sure the old hardware is much stronger than the new one.

What I would really care about the most is another survey/poll to check how
many users have (still) NON PAE CPU. But that is for another
email/thread/discussion.

Thanks!
