mkusb is the best replacement to consider, in my opinion :)
Fast, small cross platform, can make persistent images.
Unfortunately it is not in the official repos yet.
Unetbootin is okay, and works better than the Startup Disk Creator, but
it it much slower and not as reliable as mkusb.
