I am giving lubuntu a try,but I am having a problem getting the wallpaper I want installed,I go thru the synaptic p.m. and d/l and install wallpaper, but I cannot find where it is,I would like to get things looking better and more pleasing to the eye,can someone help me please.

bubblewrap1,

1. Go to Menu --> Preferences --> Monitor Settings. Your current monitor resolution will be shown.
2. Go to a Wallpaper website and download some images you like at that same resolution (or close to it).
3. Add them to your current wallpaper collection by selecting the wallpaper you downloaded, cutting (Ctrl+X), going to Menu --> System Tools --> LXTerminal (or Ctrl+Alt+T), typing gksu pcmanfm, navigating to usr/share/lubuntu/wallpapers and pasting (Ctrl+V).

Note: you can use any image you like as a wallpaper and that image can be almost anywhere on your system, but the wallpapers folder is the default location and helps keep things tidy. You can also organize within the wallpapers folder; making folders within folders and categorizing your images however you like.

Then to actually *change* the wallpaper:
1. Right-click any empty space on the desktop
2. Choose Desktop Preferences from the drop down menu
3. Click the Wallpaper: drop down menu
From here, you may choose to Fill with background color only, Stretch to fill the entire monitor area (the default), Stretch to fit the monitor area, Center unscaled image on the monitor, Tile the image to fill the entire monitor area, Stretch and crop to fill the monitor area, or Stretch to fill the complete screen.

There are also Wallpaper changers: SyncWall (http://thehive.xbee.net/index.php?module=pages&func=display&pageid=1), Variety (http://peterlevi.com/variety/) and Wallch (http://melloristudio.com/wallch/)
