I spoke to Corey Bryant in #server today about python-django in the next
LTS. The summary is:
* Version won't be bumped by Server Team unless OpenStack needs
something newer.
* OpenStack Team or Robie Basak can probably bump version on request to
whatever is in Debian, currently 1.8.4.
* I mentioned that MAAS would probably request the most recent version
packaged in Debian.

Edited transcript of conversation:
<allenap> coreycb: What version of Django you expect to release into the
LTS? If 1.9 is out by then, will that be likely?
<coreycb> allenap, from an openstack point of view, we likely won't
update python-django unless openstack requires a new version but if
there's a need for a new version we (openstack team) or perhaps rbasak
might be able to do it. it also likely depends on what's in debian,
which is currently at 1.8.4.
<allenap> coreycb: That's useful information, thanks. MAAS may request
>=1.8.4 on the basis that we want to be as far forward as possible
before entering the LTS. We don't (yet) have a particular feature or
bug fix we need to aim for.
