The IPRange could not be created because the data didn't validate.

I upgraded to MAAS 2.2.1. When trying to enable DHCP on an existing subnet
I get: "*The IPRange could not be created because the data didn't validate*".
The message is not very helpful.
I've seen bugs filed on this on 2.1 and marked as fixed.
There is an existing DHCP server on this LAN, but this configuration worked
in the previous version.
Is there documentation other than what MAAS links to that actually
describes how MAAS works? Are there comprehensive docs which show where
the config files are, what scripts are used, what is under the covers? I'm
completely in the dark which frustrates my ability to do rudimentary
troubleshooting.
Thanks
Ernie
