Maas and curtin

Hello Team,
I want to know more about how maas uses curtin and how we can customize
curtin, so that the installation process of ubuntu converted to offline
instead of online. I have gone through the curtin script curtin_userdata
present in /etc/maas/preseeds/, but as i am new to this so want to know
about more how curtin works and how we can edit and customize it.

Any help and reference will be appreciable.
