You might find it useful to know that the Mir client performance report 
(new in 0.8) doesn't only work for client apps, but also works for 
nested servers (which themselves are clients):

bin/mir_demo_server_minimal -f /tmp/outer & sleep 1 ; env 
MIR_CLIENT_PERF_REPORT=log bin/mir_demo_server_shell --host-socket 
/tmp/outer -f /tmp/inner

So you can get an accurate render time of your nested server, while we 
can't do it on the metal just yet [1].
