It's probably set to the original password you chose for your initial 
user account.  If not, use "sudo" with your own password instead of 
trying to log in as root.

But this is not the right place to ask: this list is about Rosetta (now 
known as Launchpad Translations).  Try ubuntu-users instead, or search 
for someone else who has asked the same question and got an answer.
